The McGaffin Carillon

The McGaffin Carillon is one of about 200 cast bell carillons in North American and the only one in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. Its 47 bells weigh a total of about 15,000 lbs and are played by a person at a console high in the tower. This unique voice has serenaded University Circle since 1968. It has pealed for celebrations and tolled for tragedy. During summer concerts the audience brings blankets, lawn chairs and picnics to the lawns surrounding the tower.
