Alan Bowman

Alan Bowman is Carillonneur at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio, and at the Mary M. Emery Memorial Carillon in Mariemont, Ohio.

Alan received his bachelor’s degree in Systems Analysis with a minor in Piano Performance from Miami University (1988, Oxford, Ohio), and a Master of Music degree with a major in Organ Performance from Florida Atlantic University (2005, Boca Raton, Florida).  He worked in Florida for 25 years as a director of music in Lutheran, Anglican, and Roman Catholic churches.

In 2023 Alan received his diploma from the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn” in Mechelen, Belgium and performed concerts in Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and the U.S.  He has served as Blanchard Carillon Fellow at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida (2023/24, 2025), and is a Carillonneur Member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA).

The carillon can be heard from the grounds around the tower including the Case Western Reserve Campus behind the tower away from the Euclid Avenue traffic noise. Concerts are rain or shine and your car is also a place to hear the concert. Horn honking is an accepted form of applause at the end of the program.
